- Main nav background → brand-blue #1D4ED8 (sampled from logo emblem).
- Nav link text → white with darker-blue hover bg so contrast holds.
- Article card title fixed from #e0e0e0 to navy #0F172A (was unreadable on the new white surface).
- Industry News card date row removed.
- /news Topics filter chip row removed.
- /news article hover from stark #111 to light-blue #EFF6FF tint matching the brand.
- Tagline 'News & Intelligence for Pro AV, Live Production & Display Tech' renamed to 'Pro AV, Display and Live Production Tech' across Header, RSS feed, newsletter welcome template, root layout title, page title, OG/Twitter tags.
- Homepage page.tsx now has `export const dynamic = 'force-dynamic'` + `revalidate = 0` so the hero (FeaturedBentoFromDb) actually re-renders against the live supabase row (previously the page was being statically prerendered which masked DB-driven hero swaps).
- New AvBeatLogo inline-SVG component (rounded-square emblem with
forward-leaning AV monogram + horizontal beam detail) at
src/components/AvBeatLogo.tsx, three variants (full/wordmark/icon).
- Header.tsx now uses the responsive AV BEAT logo lockup in the
top-left, links to /, full lockup on desktop (emblem+wordmark+tagline),
emblem+wordmark on tablet, emblem-only on mobile.
- Removed DualSpeedTicker (the 'RECENT FORUM POSTS' ticker strip);
the news ticker / glow chrome does not match the new aesthetic and the
forum row was the explicit removal target.
- Tailwind theme + globals.css now expose the AV BEAT 2026 palette as
semantic tokens: --brand-blue (#1D4ED8), --brand-blue-bright (#38BDF8),
--brand-navy (#0F172A), --brand-bg (#F8FAFC), --brand-surface, --brand-border,
--brand-text, --brand-text-muted. Legacy --color-* aliases re-point to the
new tokens so any inline-styled component re-themes for free.
- Site-wide hex sweep migrates 2,769 hardcoded color literals across 144
files from the old dark-broadcast palette to the new tokens (orange
-> blue, dark-brown -> white surface / navy text, cream -> navy).
- Layout body class flipped from 'bb-neon' to 'bg-brand-bg text-brand-text'
so the dark glow chrome no longer leaks through the new light theme.
SponsorLogoStrip section heading, the section aria-label, the home-page
section comment, and the NAB-2026 page heading + comment all swap to the
new label. No external API or schema references the old phrase, so this
is a pure copy change.

Feature 3 — forum auto-linking
Thread + reply bodies in /forum/thread/[id] now wrap company-name
mentions with /manufacturers/<slug> links via a new client-side
LinkifyPlainText component. Loads the directory list once per page
(module-level promise cache), regex-scans each body, preserves
whitespace, caps at 10 links per body to avoid clutter.
CompanyMentionsHover mounted on the page so the same preview card
pops on hover.
Adds /api/public/companies/list — minimal { name, slug } directory
feed, cached 10min.
Feature 4 — /nab-2026 live coverage hub
New page aggregating every directory company with exhibits_nab=true.
Three sections:
- Coverage Partners — active advertisers exhibiting at NAB, larger
tiles with emerald Sponsor border
- Latest from the show floor — last 60 days of articles with NAB
in the title, cinematic grid
- All NAB 2026 exhibitors — alphabetical, capped at 200 with link
to full /manufacturers directory
Every company tile carries data-company-slug for hover previews.
Feature 5b — Sponsor logo strip on homepage
New SponsorLogoStrip server component renders just above the footer
on the homepage, showing logos of every current banner advertiser
with a directory entry + logo. Each links to the manufacturer
profile with the hover-card slug attribute.
Feature 5c — Recent coverage on manufacturer profiles
/manufacturers/[slug] now includes a grid of the 6 most recent
articles matching the company name in the title, with thumbnails.
Renames the existing manufacturer_id-linked block to "Press
releases" since it's a separate data source.
- New DualSpeedTicker component (CSS keyframes, GPU-accelerated,
pause on hover, 28px rows, 17s BEAT / 40s FORUM, refresh 5min)
- /api/ticker/beat-news: last 7 days from bb.native_articles
- /api/ticker/forum-posts: latest threads + replies interleaved
- Mounted at the bottom of Header so every page gets it
- Scoped .bb-neon palette on homepage root: section heads +
text-shadow glow, neon-tinted card borders, emerald→cyan button
gradient, cyan hover state on links, subscribe boxes neon-bordered
- CSS-only — no layout changes

Previous state: '/' was 307-redirected to '/home-page', and the
home-page route declared canonical='/home-page'. Net effect on
SEO: Google indexed '/home-page' as the canonical homepage and
treated '/' as a transient redirect (no link equity passed).
Changes:
- next.config.mjs: replace the source:'/' destination:'/home-page'
temporary redirect with source:'/home-page' destination:'/'
permanent (301). Any existing crawler entry for /home-page now
consolidates onto '/'.
- src/app/page.tsx (new): re-exports default + metadata from
./home-page/page so '/' serves the homepage directly. No file
moves required, no relative-import breakage in the home-page
component subtree.
- src/app/home-page/page.tsx: canonical and openGraph.url
'/home-page' → '/'. The page still builds at /home-page but
the 301 above will redirect any hit before render.
- src/app/sitemap.ts: drop the duplicate /home-page entry — Google
shouldn't be told about a URL that just redirects.
Row 1 (Live Wire, scrolls →): most recent imported + AI-rewritten
articles, neon-green label, monospaced [HH:MM] [SOURCE_CODE] prefix.
Row 2 (On Calendar, scrolls ←, slower): upcoming events from
bb.events (confirmed/tentative, start_date >= today), neon-cyan
label, [Mon DD] [SHORT_NAME] prefix.
Defensive: each query is in its own try/catch so a partial failure
renders an empty row rather than crashing the page — that was the
silent build crash that took down the prior DoubleTicker incarnation.
If BOTH queries return zero rows we render nothing instead of two
blank bars.
CSS tokens added to redesign-tokens.css:
- bb-marquee--reverse + bb-marquee--slow modifiers
- .bb-neon-bar / .bb-neon-label / .bb-neon-time / .bb-neon-code
(scoped class names so this is the ONLY place on the site that
uses the neon palette — rest of the site keeps dark-navy + blue)
User cancelled the wholesale neon redesign; only the dual-ticker
keeps the neon green/cyan styling.
Two horizontal lanes stacked on top of each other:
Lane 1 LIVE WIRE red gradient label, pulsing white dot,
latest 14 published articles, 65s loop
Lane 2 RECENT FORUM POSTS green gradient label, pulsing white dot,
latest 14 forum threads, 82s loop
The two lanes use intentionally different animation durations (65s vs
82s) so they never sync up — feels alive like a real wire room. Both
loops use CSS translateX with a duplicated content track for seamless
infinite scroll. Edges fade via mask-image so items dissolve in/out
rather than appearing on a hard line.
Both lanes pause on hover (the whole row) so users can stop motion
to read or click. Each item is a real <Link>; clicking opens the
article or thread page.
Server component — data is fetched once at request time from
bb.wp_imported_posts and bb.forum_threads, cached at the page's
revalidate boundary. No client JS needed.
Old LiveWireTicker.tsx is removed (orphaned, not referenced elsewhere).

Dates
- FeaturedBentoFromDb hero + 4-up rail no longer render `ago(wp_published_at)`.
The whole component renders only Featured-category posts (filter is
category ILIKE 'featured'), so dropping the date display globally inside
it satisfies the "Featured posts have no date" requirement.
- /gear and /technology category cards: wrap the existing `{article.date}`
output in `{article.category !== "Featured" && ...}` so only non-Featured
posts continue to show their publish date.
- All other category landing pages, /news/<slug> detail, ArticleFeed, and
LiveWireTicker either don't render a visible article date or only use it
for SEO/structured-data fields (kept).
Trends sidebar
- Remove `BB AI · detected trends` block from the homepage (between
ArticleFeed and NewsletterSignup). Drop the unused import and delete
the orphaned TrendsSidebar.tsx component file. The detect-trends data
fetch and `bb_pulse_dot` mini-widget are gone from the page; nothing
else referenced them.

Drops <AISuggestedArticles variant="compact"> + its ScrollRevealSection
wrapper from /home-page. Component file stays — still rendered on /news
(NewsPageClient uses variant="full").

Replace the bento's old hero+side-rail layout with a full-width cinematic
21:9 hero on top + 4-up vertical-card rail below. Single DB query, single
component. Standalone FeatureStoryHero component removed (was rendered
above the bento; design now lives inside the bento itself).
- FeaturedBentoFromDb.tsx: new hero (gradient overlay, Feature Story badge,
large overlaid title, "Read full story" cue) + 4-card grid below
- home-page/page.tsx: drop <FeatureStoryHero /> import + JSX block
- src/components/FeatureStoryHero.tsx: deleted (composition replaced by
inline JSX in the bento for single-query efficiency)
Accent uses var(--color-text-info, #60a5fa) — the existing blue from the
codebase, matching the rest of the post-Slice-4-revert site.

New component src/components/FeatureStoryHero.tsx renders a wide 21:9 hero
of the top-pinned featured article (same query shape as FeaturedBentoFromDb).
Wired into home-page/page.tsx above the bento. Teal accent (#5B7C8D) used
intentionally — Slice 4 will sweep the rest of the site to match.
Bento remains intact and may share its top article with the hero; that's
the magazine "lead story emphasized" treatment, not a bug.

Replaces the 5-slide FeaturedCarouselServer that lost the Sony hero +
side-rail layout. New FeaturedBentoFromDb pulls every category=Featured
row, sorts featured=true (pinned hero) first then by published date.
- Hero (left, 2 columns): Sony BRC-AM7 + HXC-FZ90 — pinned via featured=true
- Side rail (right): next 4 Featured-category posts (BVM-HX1710, MCRs/NOCs,
Tessera SQ200, Backlight Iconik)
Old carousel kept on disk for future use. Layout matches the prior
FeaturedBento.tsx visual structure (hero + 4 small cards right).
